22/07/2001  Sequoia View: Disk Browsing Utility
Sequoia View is a unique disk browsing utility which uses incredibly attractive cushion treemaps to display data on your hard-drive.
Developed by the faculty of Mathematics and Computing Science at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, the program works by displaying the data on your computer as sub-divided, ridged rectangles which create a pattern of hierarchical 'cushions' . These can all be setup to show high-level global information or map deep into your directories to show individual files.
Although Sequioa View will not allow you to modify files directly (eg. deleting or moving anything) everything on your computer can be examined, giving you a more accurate impression of what is really taking up all that space within each folder. Sequioa View also includes a palette of colour schemes which can be set to dislay files such as wavs, mpegs, exes and zips, and all files can be filtered by modification/creation date, size, name etc.

Ad-Aware 5.5 by Lavasoft is a simple, yet effective, 'spyware' removal utility. This freeware program is able to detect 'spyware' programs such as Adware, Alexa 1.0-5.0, Aureate v1.0,2.0 + 3.0, Comet Cursor v1.0 and v2.0, Cydoor, Doubleclick, DSSAgent, EverAd, Flyswat, Gator, Hotbar 1+2, OnFlow, NewDotNet, TimeSink v1.0,v2.0 and v5.0, Web3000 and the thoroughly evil Webhancer which embed themselves in your system and send your personal information to their servers when connected to the internet.
Ad-Aware will scan your hard-drive, memory and registry for these components and, using a simple wizard, will guide you through this process which will safely remove them from your computer.
This essential utility also enables you to create a detailed log file
after scanning and offers the ability to make backups with a single mouseclick and restore them at a later time if necessary.

Xteq X-setup v6.0 is the ultimate freeware tool for all compulsive computer tweakers. If you just can't leave your Windows System alone then this is most definately the program for you.
This excellent program enables you to alter practically everything on your computer including the appearance and behaviour of Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, Outlook Express, Office 97/2000, ICQ and many more programs. You can choose to hide system icons, Start Menu items and even drives. Popular video cards are tweakable, computer performance and security can be adjusted; even registry and system settings that are usually hidden are here for the tweaking. X-Setup allows the user to alter shutdown screen appearance and colour and (my favourite tweak) the dreaded Blue Screen of Death can be changed to any colour you like!
X-Setup has a powerful yet extremely easy-to-use interface, can be run on any Windows installation (9x/NT/2000/ME), supports plugins and has far too many configuration options to mention here. This is an absolutely essential program for anyone interested in 'customising' their computer system and I thoroughly recommend that you download it today!
