IrfanView
IrfanView is one of those true freeware gems that only come along once in a blue moon. Here we have a commercial quality image viewer/manipulator that puts the competition to shame.
The program includes the usual image resizing/rotating functions along with many other impressive features, too many to list here. The thumbnail option is particularly notable enabling quick and easy organisation of whole directories.
Incredibly all this functionality is wrapped up in a tiny 708k download. And, if all this just isn't enough for you, there is an extra plug-ins package available for download which enables IrfanView to handle a huge array of filetypes including Quicktime, avi, mp3 and more.

First Page 2000 First Page 2000 from evrsoft is easily the best freeware HTML and script authoring tool that I have found.
The program has four modes: Easy, Expert, Normal, and Hardcore and its many features
include: JavaScript rollover effects, tag highlighting, automatic image sizing, HTML tag stripping, document compressing, source formatting, "LiveSpell" (which checks your spelling as you type), TidyHTML, XML converter; an FTP client and support for up to four external browsers which I find handy for checking differences between Netscape, Opera and IE.
Its impressive interface features a real-time split-screen page previewing, an internal browser for testing and surfing, Flash/Shockwave support, DHTML layering, ASP, SSI, CFML and WebTV tags, an integrated file explorer and much more. It also includes 450 JavaScripts, 15 DHTML scripts, 17 Perl scripts, 6 HTML scripts, 2 CGI Scripts, and an excellent step-by-step Web design guide and references for the latest HTML 4.0/SSI/CSS.
Support is also offered via discussion boards, ICQ, and e-mail.
