Not only does much of the action take place in the Lone Star state, but when we first meet the major character named Felix, he's an apparition out of the Old West--living in an abandoned boxcar on the Rio Grande with a Mexican whore, an endless supply of tequila, and a tacky bleeding Jesus on the wall.

Grammar books are not meant to be entertaining surely? Dry, dusty, unfathomable volumes that lurk in the library ready and waiting to strike terror and confusion into those unfortunate enough to require their instruction...
Not so with this volume. I coveted this one for a very long while in my local library (I don't have a copy: Amazon vouchers gratefully accepted hehe) and it is a superb book of grammar brimful of wit and black humour and victorian-style gothic illustration.
Karen Elizabeth Gordon is already an established Grammarian and has published many other titles including 'Torn Wings and Faux Pas', 'The New Well-Tempered Sentence' and 'The Disheveled Dictionary' and this 1984 classic handbook is therefore no exception to the entertaining and enjoyable way in which she explains the basic principles of grammar. Within these pages you will find vampires, gargoyles, murderous debutantes and numerous other horrors which will thrill and delight you throughout.
