As a change from my usual format of featured software, this week I am highlighting a whole website-full.
AnalogX is an excellent site with absolutely everything you need for Audio, Network, Programming, Sytem tools and even AnalogX's own fantastic MP3 Music. There are many programs ranging from speech synthesisers, traceroute utilities and programmer's algorithm tools to the unbeatable 'Analog' web log program which I use to check my usage/bandwidth/referrer statistics for VampGirl.com.
All of these programs are tiny downloads and are for Windows 95/98/NT/2000, unless otherwise specified. I thoroughly recommend that you visit this site and bookmark it. It's not just the software that makes this site worth looking at. It's the whole 'AnalogX' experience.

12/08/2001 Eraser: Secure File Wiping Utility
Eraser is an excellent freeware file wiping utility which enables the user to securely delete private data from the hard drive. Magnetic data is overwritten several times with carefully chosen patterns making recovery of sensitive files impossible. This program can delete files in several ways: by using the right-click explorer shell extension, dragging and dropping the data which you want deleting on to Eraser itself or by scheduling Eraser to overwite all unused disk space. Eraser uses patterns based on Gutmann's "Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory" and US Department of Defense patterns can also be chosen which overwrite 'sensitive' files with pseudorandom data. I have tried other utilities such as 'BCWipe' but have found this useful freeware program to be the best and most secure method of deleting data from my hard drive. 04/08/2001 Kyodai Mahjongg: Tile Removal Game
Kyodai Mahjongg is a beautiful looking, and thoroughly addictive, shareware version of the well known Oriental game 'Shanghai' or 'Mahjongg Solitaire'. The rules of the game are relatively simple: players must remove all the tiles from the board in pairs...but tiles can only be removed if they are 'free' on their left or right.
This particular version of Mahjongg features a DirectX/OpenGL 3D mode, 2D mode, tile highlights, animated tile removal, many layouts (with a full layout editor included), all the usual Hall of Fame, Undo and Hint features, various other equally addictive sub-games and a user-friendly, fully configurable interface enabling you to change backgrounds, sound effects and many more options. Kyodai's midi playlist, with MOD file support, is written exclusively for the game. Furthermore, the music is actually very relaxing and reminds me very much of my old Commodore Amiga sound files.
Kyodai is a 32-bit program which is best viewed in 1024x768 res in true color. It runs on Win 95/98/NT and 2000 and has multi-lingual support of at least 27 languages. Visit the download site by clicking the button below.
